Acupunctuur Amsterdam Nathalie Kamp

1. ACUPUNCTURE

With ultrafine needles, the flow of energy (Qi) is set back in motion, allowing your body to relax and begin to restore itself.

Many women notice a sense of calm in both body and mind after just one session. For lasting change, we create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

To me, this is the most beautiful proof of the body’s own innate healing power.

2. BREATHWORK

Many people breathe too high in their chest and too fast, which keeps the body in a constant state of tension. The nervous system is stuck in fight/flight.

That’s why I observe your breathing pattern whenever you are here, and share simple practices to guide you back into rest/digest. This is the foundation for lasting change.

A transformative breath session of 90–105 minutes goes deeper: unconscious blocks and emotions can surface and be released – an experience that often feels liberating and brings new calm and energy.

3. Epiphora Method

Feeling stuck and struggling to recover may be linked to reduced circulation to the brain. Developed in the Netherlands, the Epiphora Method uses simple daily exercises – movement, breathing and relaxation – to restore this flow. For many, it has been the missing link to recovery.

I’ll teach you these practices in just three sessions.

In my practice, I often see results come surprisingly quickly: more energy, greater clarity and a deep sense of calm.

4. Cosmetic Acupuncture

The Holistic Face & Body Glow combines cosmetic acupuncture, breathwork, cupping and gua sha into one deeply restorative experience.

The result: firmer, fresher and more youthful-looking skin – while also boosting your energy and bringing deep relaxation throughout your body.

No injectables, no fillers – just your own beauty, naturally restored.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture restores the free flow of Qi – your life energy – through the meridians. You can see meridians as a network of energy pathways that connect everything in your body. When that flow is blocked, symptoms arise. By stimulating specific points with fine needles, it’s like switching on a light: the energy flows again, and balance is restored.

From a Western medical perspective, research shows that acupuncture activates the nervous system, stimulates the release of endorphins, improves blood circulation, and reduces inflammation.

For me, this is not just theory – I’ve experienced it myself. After years of severe back pain, I was completely pain-free after just six sessions. That was the moment I was convinced: acupuncture became the start of my journey as a practitioner. You can read more about this experience in my blog.

After a session, you may feel a little drowsy or lightheaded – similar to how you feel after a massage. Occasionally, a small bruise may appear, but it fades on its own. Other than improved energy balance, there are no side effects. There’s no downtime, unlike microneedling or many cosmetic procedures.

Acupuncture is considered safe when performed by a qualified, certified practitioner using sterile, disposable needles. Minor side effects can include light bleeding, bruising, fatigue, or dizziness.

I am a certified acupuncturist and always use sterile, single-use needles. Each needle is used once, then disposed of in a medical sharps container and delivered to the pharmacy for proper destruction.

Eat a light meal beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing so you can fully relax. During the session, you’ll be cozy under a blanket with a warm lamp at your feet. I’ll make sure you feel safe and comfortable throughout.

You’ll lie down on a soft, comfortable treatment table. After the intake, I’ll gently place fine acupuncture needles in your body (and sometimes your face). They remain in place for 20–30 minutes – many people even drift off to sleep. You’ll be tucked under a blanket, with an eye mask, a warm lamp, and relaxing music. Afterward, you’ll feel refreshed, calm, and re-energized.

No. The needles are ultra-fine and placed with great care. Most people hardly feel a thing – sometimes just a tiny pinch. The treatment itself feels more like deep relaxation. Of course, if you know you have a strong fear of needles, I recommend starting with a body treatment first to see how it feels for you.

Congratulations! And yes, it is absolutely safe. Acupuncture can make your pregnancy more comfortable and help ease common symptoms such as nausea, pelvic pain, fatigue, and stress. It can also support turning your baby (from week 34) and prepare your body for a smoother birth (weekly sessions, starting from week 36). Research shows that many women benefit greatly from acupuncture during this special time.

In my practice, I also support women in regulating their cycles to inprove fertility, accompany women during IVF or fertility treatments, and offer care during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. You’re warmly welcome.

An acupuncture needle is ultra-thin and stimulates specific points along the meridians, setting the flow of Qi (energy) in motion. From a Western perspective, the needle activates the nervous system, improves blood circulation, and stimulates the body’s natural healing response.

I still find it magical that this was discovered thousands of years ago – and at the same time fascinating that modern science is now beginning to explain what really happens. My nerdy side could read about this for hours, but the most important thing is: you can feel it yourself. An acupuncture needle isn’t a drug from the outside; it’s a subtle key that reactivates your own healing power and energy pathways (Qi).

The material of the needle
Most needles are made of stainless steel: smooth, inert, and conductive. The metal itself has electrical and thermal properties, which means it can interact with your body’s own electrical field (nerve impulses are, after all, tiny electrical currents). Some needles are plated with gold or silver – each has a slightly different conductivity and polarity. In TCM, this is also used: gold is considered more tonifying, silver more calming.

What happens physically when a needle is inserted?

  • Mechanical stimulation: The needle passes through skin, connective tissue, sometimes muscle. Collagen fibers gently wind around the needle, creating tension that triggers cells to send out tiny electrical and chemical signals.

  • Micro-electric currents: Each cell has a membrane potential (about -70 mV). Inserting a needle changes the local electrical charge. The needle, as a conductor, can pick up and amplify these differences.

  • Piezoelectric effect in fascia: Connective tissue has piezoelectric properties – when stretched or twisted, it generates small electrical charges. These signals spread through fascia pathways, comparable to meridians.

  • Heat & micro-vibrations: Even subtle vibrations from your breathing or the practitioner’s hand create movement in the tissue, changing local blood flow and temperature.

The translation into Qi
From a scientific perspective, we see mechanical movement, electrical charges, and signals through connective tissue. In TCM language, this is exactly the movement of Qi – the sum of electrical, chemical, and mechanical information in your body being brought back into balance.

In short: an acupuncture needle is both a micro-conductor and an antenna. It interacts with your body’s electrical fields, influences tension patterns, and sets off a cascade of signals through the connective tissue network – our “internal internet.”

Everyone is different, and every concern is unique. Almost everyone experiences deep relaxation and a calmer mind.

Pain issues can often improve quickly – results you’ll notice right away. Digestive complaints, menstrual cycle issues, stress, or sleep challenges may take more time to shift. For long-lasting change, multiple sessions are usually needed.

But after each treatment, you’ll likely feel as if you’ve just returned from a restorative holiday. The more regularly you come, the deeper and stronger the results.

Of course. During your first visit, we’ll discuss your needs and set up a plan together. If after your first session you feel it’s not for you, there’s no obligation to continue.

In my Amsterdam practice, I treat a wide range of issues: back, neck, and shoulder pain, migraines, stress, burnout, digestive issues, and sleep problems. Many women also come to me for hormonal balance (PMS, menopause) and before, during and after pregnancy and fertility treatments. On top of that, I specialize in cosmetic acupuncture – a natural way to support skin rejuvenation and achieve that healthy glow.

Many of my clients feel an immediate difference – less tension in the body, a calmer mind, or quick pain relief. For issues like digestive complaints, menstrual cycle regulation, or insomnia, several sessions are often needed. We’ll always discuss what you can expect. Almost everyone leaves their first session feeling lighter and more energized.

Yes. The needles are ultra-fine and nothing like medical syringes. Many people with needle anxiety are surprised at how gentle it feels. If you’re very sensitive, we can start with acupressure or cupping to ease you in.

✨ And here’s exciting news: I am currently studying Toyohari acupuncture, a refined Japanese style of acupuncture that uses extremely delicate techniques. In many cases, the needle doesn’t even penetrate the skin – the method works through subtle touch and energy regulation. From spring 2026, you’ll also be able to book this treatment with me in Amsterdam. It’s especially suitable for people who are needle-sensitive, highly sensitive, or simply curious about an exceptionally gentle yet powerful form of acupuncture. Stay tuned!

Cosmetic acupuncture is one of my specialties. With fine needles, I stimulate circulation and collagen production in the face while also treating the body for deep relaxation. The result: firmer skin, improved tone, and a natural glow – without chemicals or downtime. Read more about cosmetic acupuncture.

Yes. I work with many women who want to regulate their cycle, improve uterine blood flow, and reduce stress to support natural conception or IVF. Clients often tell me that acupuncture helps them feel calmer, stronger, and more balanced during this important journey. It’s a powerful way to give your body that little extra support.

I am a certified acupuncturist and only use sterile, single-use needles. My clients usually feel relaxed, recharged, and balanced afterwards – side effects such as a small bruise are rare and harmless.

Absolutely. I see more and more men in my Amsterdam practice, often for stress, burnout, sleep problems, digestive issues, or back and shoulder pain. Men also come for energy and focus, or recovery after sports. Many are surprised at how quickly their mind feels calmer and their body more at ease.

And of course – facial acupuncture is a super and natural way to refresh a man’s appearance! Come check it out!

That depends on your situation. For acute pain or stress, weekly sessions can bring fast relief. For cosmetic results, I usually recommend a series of 6–10 treatments for the best outcome. Many clients then continue with monthly maintenance sessions to keep their balance and glow. Together, we’ll create a plan that suits you.

Yes. Many Dutch health insurers reimburse part of the cost if your practitioner is registered with a recognized professional association. I am a member of ZHONG, which means you can often get a partial refund. Always check your policy to know exactly what applies to you.

Definitely. In my practice, I often combine acupuncture with cupping, guasha, moxa, and breathwork. These combinations frequently enhance results, bringing deeper relaxation, better energy flow, and a natural glow in your skin.

I also regularly encourage clients to consult other specialists when appropriate – such as a manual therapist, gynecologist, osteopath, or craniosacral therapist. I believe in supporting you to find your own path to healing. Acupuncture does not interfere with other methods. If in doubt, always check with your GP.

Yes. While acupuncture does not cure the flu, it can provide relief from common symptoms such as nasal congestion, headaches, sore muscles, sore throat, and fatigue. In my practice, I use gentle needle techniques to stimulate the immune system, improve circulation, and restore energy balance. Many clients feel stronger and recover more smoothly from colds or flu. Acupuncture can also support your immune system long-term, making you less vulnerable to recurring infections.

The Epiphora Method is a gentle breathing and posture-based technique that I increasingly use in my practice. Especially with complaints such as fatigue, brain fog, or recovery after concussion, whiplash, burnout, or long COVID, I see impressive results. Many clients tell me they feel lighter, clearer, and more energized after just one session. I often combine Epiphora with acupuncture or breathwork for a deeper effect.

Want to know more? Visit the Epiphora Method page or listen to the House of Qi Podcast (both in dutch)

I often use Epiphora with people who have already tried many things but where recovery just doesn’t seem to progress. Think of lingering symptoms after a concussion, burnout, or long COVID. It also brings relief for migraine, brain fog, and sensory sensitivity. Because it is such a gentle method, it is suitable for almost everyone.

Do you suffer from:

  • brain fog

  • pressure on top of your head and/or scalp pain

  • intense fatigue

  • blurred vision

  • concentration problems

  • sensitivity to noise and/or light

  • stiff, sore muscles

  • a cold body

  • fibromyalgia

  • (aura) migraine

  • irritable bowel syndrome

  • or lingering symptoms after whiplash or concussion?

Then it is likely that the flow between your head and body – and vice versa – is not optimal. In my practice, I often see that the Epiphora Method can be the missing link to recovery. Especially in combination with acupuncture or breathwork, this approach gives deep and lasting results.

Many clients feel a difference right after the first session: a lighter head, more calm, and sometimes even more energy. For lasting results, usually three sessions are needed. I notice that combining Epiphora with acupuncture or breathwork often makes recovery faster and more powerful.

Yes, I often do this in my practice. Combining Epiphora with acupuncture or breathwork usually leads to quicker and deeper results. In this way, we don’t just address the symptom but also work on restoring overall balance and calm in your system.

I also regularly refer clients to Wouter Baaijen, a manual therapist in Amsterdam. He has developed a careful and gentle way of mobilizing the upper cervical vertebrae, which is often an important factor in these issues. Many of my clients make huge progress with the combination of the Epiphora Method and Wouter’s treatments.
